Fabric

Exciting challenge over on the Paperartsy blog being Fabric. I was inspired by Ruth Mescall and her post, so I came up with this.

I wanted to make a collage, as I have never tried yet!!

I started off by stamping some strips of calico using Backgrounds Plate 2, the script stamp.

I made a dye bath with Infusions Blackcurrant and soaked the strips.

I cut 2 squares of calico and spritzed with water and sprinkled with Infusions Orange County for the moth.

The background was created using calico, and I dry brushed on some Fresco's in Caribbean Sea. I created some marks with a painting knife using Bougainvillia.

When all of the elements were dry, following the advice of Ruth, I glued the base to some stiff card, and glued the strips to create some trees. I cut out some rounded triangle shapes for the moth, and made the body with some gauze that was dyed with A Bit Jaded,

I wrapped around the gauze with some Guterman Rayon thread to make secure and glued on the wings and the antenna.

Stencils

This month the challenge is use a stencil over at Country View Challenges

I started off with a canvas board and painted using Cosmic Shimmer chalk paints, chalkboard and slate grey. I used the Dylusions stencil diamond border and some texture paste to create the diamond pattern. After this was dry I oversprayed the board with Dylusions ink spray in white linen.

The fabric was dyed using watercolours, I used the Memory Box stencil called Rings and Puddles, and Pebeo Acrylic paint called Iridescent Precious Gold to create the circles. I cut up the fabric into 3 sections and hand stitched them together.

The photograph is of our cow called Grace, a 4 year old Jersey. I printed this off in black and white and used the Memory Box stencil with some Cosmic Shimmer metallic gilding paste in Ocean Teal.

The fabric and photo all glued into place on the board.

I like it more than just a photo frame to display a member of the family!!

Clarity Mermaid Stamp...

Anything Goes, is the current theme this month over on the Clarity Stamp Challenge blog.

So, I have created this..

I started by stamping the Mermaid stamp onto some calico fabric with Memento Ink. Having never watercoloured onto fabric, I gave this a go. As the calico is cream in colour the result was not what I expected, but I liked the end result.

Whilst this was drying, I watercoloured the off cuts with a view to stitch them onto the base to create some sort of underwater plants, and to add some texture.

When all was dry I stitched around the outside, and stitched on the strips of calico. I made two holes at the top and secured onto a piece of winter pruning!!

I am very new to working with fabric and stitching but enjoying the process along the way, not sure if this is suitable for the challenge blog, just wanted to show another way to use the stamps other than cards!!

Mixed Media Canvas Board..

I have been playing with calico fabric and using my stamps, and have come up with this...

I started with a canvas board and painted with some cream acrylic paint. With some Gesso, I went round the outside of the frame and heat set. This created some lovely textures and bubbles!!

I stencilled the love onto some calico and stamped a heart shape on the o.

The images where glued onto 3 pieces of fabric, and then glued onto the board.

I love all of the depth and textures!!

Spring Celebration !!!

Spring is well under way here in Bulgaria. It is a real joy to see everything coming alive after the Winter.

Spring signifies to me early bulbs, daffs and tulips.

So, as a 'celebration', I have made this..

I pained a section of scrap wood with white gesso to add a base.

Using 2 micron pens, I traced around the daffodil onto some tissue paper.

I then glued into position with some Modge Podge.

The colour was created by flicking IndigoBlu cottage paint in Banana Custard. At the moment we have Cheerfulness daffs out in the garden, these have orange centres, so I added some Brusho's in Gamboge. I then spritzed with a little water to mix.

Modroc Sculpture

I have been working on a Modroc sculpture and came up with this creation.

I started with some wire and made the armature, this is the first time I have done this and gained some inspiration from YouTube.

I wrapped some kitchen foil around the wire and wrapped a few layers of Modroc.

After this was dry I painted using my new Pebeo Dyna paint in Iridescent gold. I found this piece of wood and glued it in place.

I painted the wood with some grey chalk paint and highlighted in places with lighter grey...

Resist....

Over on the Paperartsy blog this time the topic is Resists, so came up with this project.

I started with some reclaimed wood and glued on 3 microscope slides. In my haste though they did'nt all stick, must have more patience!!

Using Alcohol Inks in Wild Plum, Raisin and Raspberry, I applied to the microscope slides. When this was dry, I stamped using my Paperartsy mini circle stamp with archival ink. 

You have to act quickly and gently wipe away the archival ink, and it removes the alcohol ink.

Looks really effective on a white background.
