Rusty Panel

I came across this picture on Pinterest and was instantly inspired to create a project based on Rust!!

So, here is my interpretation...

Substrate is Kraft Card, torn up to 4 pieces, A6. I like working in this size, not to intimidating and can be displayed in varioous locations in my home!!

For my 'rivets', I used Spellbinders Labels 7, the smallest one. Cut out 4 times and glued together. I used a ball tool to create the number. 47 my age!!

I decided to use Paperartsy Fresco Chalk Paint on this, The paint goes really well with the Kraft Card. I chose Caribbean Sea as I like the combination with the brown rust.

I love the flat matt finish of the chalk paint along with white gesso that I used to create a weather beaten effect.

I wanted to create the fake rust effect around my die cut rivets, to give the effect of the rain just collecting around that area, streaks of colour applied with my finger created this effect.

At this point I was really pleased, it looks like someone has cut out a section from a gate or door..

I am glad I used a lot of pressure for the numbers, I was worried in case the paints would cover them..

Pleased with the end result, funny where inspiration can lead you to...
