Distress Oxide, Fresco and Tonic Hybrid Play!!

Fab topic this fortnight over on the PaperArtsy blog, being Hybrid Inks.

I have decided to play with some Distress Oxides along with PaperArtsy Fresco Chalk Paint with a mix of Tonic Studio's Hybrid Inks.

I added some Distress Oxides in Peeled Paint and Cracked Pistachio. Before I added water, I used a few blobs of PaperArtsy Fresco Paint in Zesty Zing to the glass matt. Love the effect..

I also added some Distress Oxides in Faded Jeans to add a bit more interest.

The chevron stamping is from PaperArtsy Hot Picks 1501, and the ladies are from Buttons Plate 6. I took the hits and ideas from Miriam, and used a alcohol marker. I stamped this image with Tonic Studios Hybrid Ink in Metro Grey.

Great fun, do have a go, the oxides are addictive, different results each time!!!

Challenge 2 Asia AAll and Create

Challenge 2 this week and the theme is Asia.

Details can be found here.

My arty journey has taken me to Indonesia, I have used their national flower-Jasmine. The writing on the left is from the Batak writing system found in the Western part of Indonesia. The stitching is from the Bugis writing system from the Eastern part of Indonesia. My calico is dyed with Infusions pigment powders, and my substrate is a broken roof tile!!.

Seaside Collage

Wonderful theme this month over on the Country View Crafts Challenges, being Blues and Greens.

I have made this Seaside collage piece.

I started out by painting some card with PaperArtsy Fresco Chalk Paint in Slate Grey. The fish stamp is from PaperArtsy along with the Beach Hut, I stamped these with Distress Oxides in Cracked Pistachio and faded Jeans.

I scribbled onto some card Distress Markers in peacock Feathers and Twisted Citron and cut up into irregular geometric pieces and added for my sea.

Fun make, love the Distress Oxides to stamp with, very effective over the chalk paint.

My substrate is some scrap card packaging. I altered the colour of the Victorian man and added some lime green ribbon strips, look funky!!

The red label is from a pig food sack and I have used numbers and letters 51 to signify the number of countries within Europe!!

Great fun, take a look, easy to join in and have some fun!!!

Book As You Go!!

Very proud to be on the PaperArtsy blog with my book project. I wanted to make a book as you go creation and started with the covers. They measure approx 7 by 7". I brayered on some Fresco chalk Paint in Inky Pool and dragged over Distress Oxides in Faded Jeans, sqirted a little water at the lower section.

I built up the collage elements with various Mini stamps from the range and glued into position. I used a branch from an old cherry tree for further interest.

The back cover consists of some more brayering with Banana Fresco and made a collagraph printing plate with the beach hut. Some free form marks with a wood pen.

This page I used the stamps to create a background and used some of my photography for the focal point.

This shows the finished back cover.

As my book has no pages until you make them, I decided to try some plastic packaging, really pleased how it took the Fresco's.

This page happened by accident, I started it but fell out with it, so I used it to 'clean' off the brayer. A few days later I really liked the effect..

Finally a close up of the front cover.

I have had such fun creating this book, it will continue to grow. I love the way that all the pages are slightly different in size, just what I wanted to achieve.

More adventures with Concertina Book..

My journey continues with little art books. I have made this little concertina book.

I had this old Victorian photograph, so scanned it in and altered it via Craft Artist.

I wanted to know how it would print on Kraft Card.

Quite like that the pic is in 4 sections, oh well must keep experimenting!!

Mini Book!!

I have been busy this week playing and making some mini books. Having found lots of old previous experiments on card, I decided to recycle them.

Each page is trimmed to 14 cm square and glued together. This seems to add stability in order for the books to stand on a shelf without buckling.

When they were dry, I brayered on PaperArtsy Fresco Chalk Paint in Inky Pool. After I added some Distress Oxides in Faded Jeans. The photographs were taken from the village were I live!!

I printed off the pictures in red, nice combo with the Inky Pool.
