Adventure with Air dry clay

I recently purchased a block of air dry clay to try another craft.

Here is the result, I was inspired by a bottle of bubblebath!!!

Great fun, I have always admired folk art houses etc and decided to make a folk art beach hut. I just used my hands and a plastic clay tool to make the marks on the clay.

Here is the end result after painting with some IndigoBlu paints...

Really enjoyed, I will be sending this to a friend back in the UK.

Experimenting with Red!!

I don't usually use red in any of my creations, bit silly really but it scares me.

So I thought I would try...

Stared off with a scrap piece of cardboard and painted it with black gesso. After this was dry I painted with Scarlet Pebeo acrylic paint and over painted with Bronze eco friendly acrylic paint with a brayer.

I made the buttons from paperclay and painted with a mixture of scarlet paint and some mica.

To finish off a splatted some bronze drawing ink, will use red again as feeling more confident!!!

Experimenting with dimention

I have made this for this fortnight's challenge at Paperartsy, being Abstract.

I started with a watercolour board and covered with an old dictionary page. I then randomly added colour with Fresco Chalk paints in Beach Hut and Mermaid.

After this was dry I splatted some watered down gesso and gold acrylic paint.

I was inspired by the work of Belinda Firman using 'pods' of circles and squares. Most of my work is flat so I wanted to experiment with some dimention.

I recently made some plaster figures and had some left over, so I poued small mounds onto my glass mat. After they were dry I mixed up some mica powder with modge podge and painted all of the mounds and glued them onto the board.

I then mixed up some black mica with modge podge and created frames around the mounds. With some Brass Eco Friendly acrylic paint I dipped one side of a spritzer bottle top and created half circles around the mounds.

Really pleased with the end result and enjoyed the experimenting. Great thing about these boards I can move them around the home in different locations!!

Playing with Brusho's

Great fun today playing with Brusho's.

I started with a watercolour board and sprinkled in different areas a mix of Cobalt Blue, Lime Green and Gamboge.

With my spritzer I squirted lots of water, very pleased when it had dried. 

Looks a little like the Universe!!

Cake Mould Art...

I have been having great fun with some cake decorating moulds, ice cube trays and using them with Plaster of Paris.

I found a large Lego Man mould, and painted him with Cosmic Shimmer chalk paint and splatted him with gold parchment ink.

A protective coat of Modge Podge matt varnish finished him off/

Sparkle and Shine...

This is my creation for the Country View Crafts challenge, this month the theme is Sparkle and Shine...

I started by painting a canvas using Eco Friendly acrylic paint in Grape. I used the black side of some Cut N Dry foam to give a textured finish.

When this was dry I roughly drew some circles using a Zig glue pen and applied some gilding flakes to add some shine, and created some drips using silver ink.

I wanted to capture the feel of Autumn, so with some craft metal I die cut some acorn leaves, shaped them around a pen and glued them to the canvas.

Now for some sparkle, I have a reel of madeira thread, it's called Jewel Holographic, really sparkly, tricky to capture the effect with a photograph!!

After some experimenting, I cut off a couple of metres, and wrapped them around 2 fingers and twisted together to create some circles.

We had some maintenance to our heating system recently, and they were using a soldering iron, a few drops fell onto the floor, so I rescued 2 blobs of solder. Nice and shiny, so I glued these onto the canvas.

Lastly for some more sparkle and shine I attached 5 glass crystal pendants to the side of the canvas with some craft wire.

Nautical

This Month's challenge at Country View Crafts Challenge is Nautical.

As I do not have anything Nautical in my stash, I thought I would do some Zentangling.

This was then coloured using watercolour pencils and Copic markers and backed onto some chipboard.

Using my computer I designed the wording and used a Spellbinder label to cut it out.

Really enjoyed taking part in this challenge... and really proud to be mentioned in last month's challenge!!
